Miley Cyrus Racist Asian Photo Apology Upsets Chinese Organization

miley_cyrus_racist

The Organization of Chinese Americans is still displeased with Miley Cyrus and they're not backing down. If only Miley Cyrus allowed her PR rep to write her apology this would be over right now. But a "Well, I'm sorry!" doesn't exactly have a heartfelt and sincere ring to it.

Miley began her apology with the following,
“I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces!” she wrote. “Well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!”
Miley Cyrus’ half-hearted “apology” isn’t convincing the Organization of Chinese Americans.
“The picture is offensive and now this statement is inadequate,” George Wu, Executive Director of the OCA, an Asian-American equality group tells Celebuzz.

That’s not enough, says Wu: “It’s not a real apology. We’re not backing down without a fuller apology.”

I'm glad the OCA is standing up to her bratty little message. She's sending a terrible message to young people across the world and setting a terrible example. Anyone who thinks the photo is "just fun" needs to think long and hard about how we want our world to be in the future. Do you want your kids to think it's ok to mock another race? The fact that an Asian appears in the picture does NOT make it any better. Is it ok to call an African American the "N" word just because they themselves use it in rap music? NO. This isn't any better. The point is that by her calling it "harmless fun" and "no big deal" it's sending a message to younger children that it's ok to do it. And that IS NOT OK. Miley should be ashamed. Her "apology" was even more offensive.

And in response to Killertu, you say we should focus on bigger things like the war. Well you should think about the larger consequences of racism. Wars have been started because of racism. Ever heard of the holocaust??? Khmer Rouge? The fact that Saddam Hussein gassed thousands of Kurds just because they were Kurdish? Think about that and you'll realize that racism is the root of so many problems of this world.

miley cyrus is so insensitive. i am asian and i live in a community where a lot of the people are racist towards asians (santa clarita valley)and this picture of her just being "goofy" is so stupid. she needs to apologize...in a less bitchy way. she is a stupid whore who puts up racy pictures of herself thinking she's really pretty but she has the most annoying voice and face i've ever seen.

wow, well you gotta feel for the asians who feel offended, because i get what there saying! but i think that the OCA are taking it way to far, and are just causing un wanted/needed drama! there are millions of racist people out there. (NOT ME) so why do they choose to take it out on miley? the answer is: attention
